Beyond research, I find joy and inspiration from travel and time spent outdoors. I especially love travelling through Europe with my parents — drawn to its diversity of cultures, histories, and landscapes.
I like to go hiking or scuba diving with my mum, whether it’s in the Alps, or along coastal trails in Australia, or diving under the sea. These moments are a reminder of the joy in exploration — both above and below the surface.
Closer to home, I spend time at our rural property in southern New South Wales, where as a family we grow grapes and make small-batch wine. It’s a hands-on, seasonal process that offers a refreshing counterpoint to the lab — tactile, intuitive, and rooted in place, and my adopted hobby from my dads retirement. Tending to the vines together and seeing a vintage come together is a different kind of satisfaction: one that values patience, unpredictability, and a connection to both land and family - and it's good exercise!
